Need help with wattage etc...

My problem is this: if I get say, an amp that has 1,000 watts running at 4 ohms, am i going to blow up the 15e because it is rated lower in power?

And what about tube amps? Someone told me that tube power ratings are actually higher than an equivalent solid state rating.

I need some help with this. I have the 15e and plan on getting the 4x10, and now I just need a head that will drive it. My current heat (ampeg B2R) will not cut it.

it's very possible if you're looking to go insanely loud. it will definitely be the big limiting factor, and you'll never get the kind of volume out of it that you'll get out of the 410.

watts are watts, but tube amps do have some compression characteristics that make them sound a little louder than the equivalent in solid state by comparison.

the b2r has a fair amount of wattage, but through a 115 it's not going to be as loud as through a 410. the 410he will put out about twice as loud as the 115e. if you're looking to run a 1000w rig and be sickeningly loud, 410he/115e is a bad choice. use two 410he's or an 810e instead.

I guess the 15e was a bad cab to buy... Have one right now. I can't get highs at all out of this thing. are there any other cabs i could run using the head I currently have? maybe I can cut down on costs this way. How about a 410 HLF?

nah, a single 115 will get buried in every way by the 410hlf. sometimes a good 210 can work really well with a 115. they're closer to the same output, and while they won't go super loud, it will still go pretty loud, at least as loud as a 410. 115e's actually a good cab, but not for everybody.

If you already own the 15, I'd suggest another one. 2 15's are great. Otherwise, like Jimmy said, a 2x10 will match up with a 15 much better than a 410. Your B2r wants a 4 ohm speaker load to get max power from it, so remember to watch that. You can't go below 4 ohms, so a 410hlf would need to be used alone.

But would 2 15's cover my highs? and does ampeg even make a 2x10 cab? local music store is selling a 12 inch cab SVT.

would the 410HLF just be a better choice all around?

I am also on the market for a new head, keep that option open in consideration

Ampeg used to make a 2x10 that basically went with the 115. It's discontinued, but you can still find them.

The 15" sounds really nice with a tube amp. I've never had a problem getting highs out of mine. I can't really use the bright setting on my amp because there are too many highs, in fact.

Some people love the 4x10HLF. Some really don't like it, claiming that it's a bit too midscooped. Trust your ears.

There is an ampeg 210, the PN210HLF its pretty costly though, rated for 500 watts though. I'm really interested in one myself.

Yes, but that's not the specific 2x10 to which I was referring, and which was a match for the 115 being talked about.
