Need Info for my Ampeg SVT Classic Head
Hey guys I recently purchased an ampeg svt classic head. This may sound like a really dumb question but I don't know where to find information about the amp (year, where it was manufactured, etc). Is there a number on the back that can help me? I really want to know more info about my awesome head! Thanks!
I also have a Aguilar 810 cabinet that I have little info about so if you know how i can find more about that cab that would be great too!
Not a dumb question at all. I can't tell you about the Aggie, but Ampeg stuff made from 1988-2007 has the 5th digit designate the year:
Etc. etc. And then in 2008, they started over with the 12th digit (however, that digit has been known to appear in a couple different places...at least it has on my newer Ampegs):
What does that mean?
EFR = model prefix (random alpha-numeric code)
D = domestic
U = 2008
A = November
0170 = 170th unit of that production run
Ya, there was some overlap I didn't take into account. Sorry.
I was basing that info on this document:
It was produced during the days when St. Louis Music owned Ampeg, and it's obvious by the dates they were planning several years ahead; certainly beyond the purchase of Ampeg by Loud Technologies. It could be that Loud did not stick strickly to this format. I know their current serial numbers are completely different.
