Need opinion for a new bass head

Actually I have an Eden WT300 with a 2X10 cab (8 ohms). I'm not sure that I like it. I think it's too clean for my needs. I think there's too much EQ on this amp. I play in a rock/surf/country trio not too loud but I have to take my place in the mix.

I have the opportunity to bought a Trace Elliot GP7SM 250 or a Gallien Krueger 400rb IV.

Wich one of these 2 amps give me a better rock sound, more like a tube amp? More in your face tone?

By the way I play an Amrican standard Precision 2006.

Hmm... You've got a rather nice head right now and I'm thinking that you may not need to dump it. Remember that even though you've got a healthy eq, you don't necessarily need to do too much with it.

Are you getting enough mids out of your current setup? I'd bet that the "rawness" in your tone should come out and play if you've got your settings so that your 400-800 Hz frequencies can come through. If you need a "bigger" sound, you could consider adding another 2x10 or a 1x15.

Some of our pals here will probably also suggest that you try a VT pedal from Tech 21 to give you some of that in-your-faceness. Haven't tried one myself, but that gizmo has earned a pretty healthy following in a big hurry.

If you think the Eden is too clean, you might be happier with the GK. Not that it's not clean, but IME it has a better "rock tone". I traded my GK for a Genz-Benz amp because I like the "cleaner" sound of the GB. The GK just had a "heavier" sound that I didn't care for.

I've always found those Eden heads to be too clean as well. I think you'd be very happy with the Gallien Krueger. I played a 400rb in a hair metal band through a 4X12 cab and it was definitely in your face.
