Need portable vintage tone. Please help.

Alright I'm overwhelmed..... There's just too much stuff out there and I've read hundreds of reviews and I'm still stumped. Can you guys give me some suggestions of what to look for. I play mostly jazz, r&b, blues, and soul music. So it's got to be somewhat versatile in sound..... but not a whole lot. Here's what I'm looking for.

-A combo. Possibly with a detachable head. Two tens or more. No 15's. Something around 300-500 watts.

-"Vintage" tone. I'm not into the modern sound. I usually play a p or j with flats. Round, fat, deep, clean.... all that stuff.

-Portability. I travel a lot and I'd like something that's easy to move and not too heavy. Maybe something with casters built in?

I'm also open to a preamp and power amp set up. Whatever gives me the tone and portability. Budget is under 3K. I guess the question is what amp, or combo, or preamp and cab, will give me the portability of all the awesome new "mini" amps but still give me some quality old school tone? Thanks for any help guys.

The micro VR is a legitimate suggestion. Many Ampeg-heads around here swear that it sounds very close to the real thing.

How about a Bag End 210 (D10B-D) or Bergantino 210 with a Genz Streamliner 600? Just another idea. Super light head.

right. won't blow your head off with volume (isn't shy, though), but definitely sounds a lot like a small version of the 810.

What about a decent combo or amp/cab (lots of good choices) with vintage effects - VT Bass, Bass Driver, etc.?

Yeah that's what I'm looking for. But like I said I don't know where to start. Looking for suggestions here.

The TC stuff looks cool. I like the presets and the removable head. But it's all digital correct? Can it do the tubey sound?

The Mini VR looks awesome but the wattage isn't quite enough. My band plays all kinds of venues. Really small bluegrass combos to really big outdoor gigs. I've got an extra cab. Just need a combo or something like it for the small to medium stuff.

My Mark Bass Little Mark II, with the VLE and the VPF knobs both at noon, gives me a pretty good vintage sound, and I've paired it with all sorts of cabs these last few years.

One of those, into a 210 cab of your choice should get you there. Maybe a MB 210 combo?

Mesa Buster combo. 2x10's loud, versatile. Weighs a ton though. Does have built in wheels.

yes, and it's totally passable..
It actually resembles a tube amp and not just a tube pre
The notes get real hefty, I go for slight break up (overdrive)
and the compressor (just a little) is very musical

Nobody mentioned the Mesa Scout! Very vintage tone, modern technology, equals one nice combo.
