Need recommendations for an affordable rig

I play guitar in a funk band (stevie wonder, kool and gang, comodoores, etc.). Whenever our bass player is absent, I end up filling in on bass. I've been playing through the soundman's bass POD thing. It sucks. No low end via the monitor. I need to spend less than $800 and I need an amp that is good enough to gig with and loud enough. I have a jazz bass I got from this site but I need an amp. Any suggestions. I was considering an avatar cab. What is best for this music, 1x15, 4x10, or what? THANKS!

Most bang for the buck: Acoustic 200B Combo @ under $350; plenty of power and tone; use DI-OUT into PA. B200H with 1-15 and 4-10 cabs for around your budget; same awesome tones, plenty of power and go DI.

Hartke ha3500 with a gk blxii 4x10 cab. Is this a good deal?

Most of the groups you mentioned recorded on B-15s, back in the day. The Ampeg PF500 and PF115HE emulate the tone of the old B-15 considerably well. And later you could add a second cab...
