Need a Rig

I bought my first amp when i knew little about amps. Its a peavey Max 158B ithink. I want to start a rig and was wondering...
Should/could I buy a cab and use my combo as a head, or use no head or should/could i buy a new head to clean the tone and just use it with the lil combo?

That little combo's just a practice combo, not enough to "rig" out. A rig is something you can at least jam in a band with, or even do medium size gigs.
If a rig is what you want, start by telling us your price range and we'll go from there.

+1 sounds like you need to start from scratch, and put a gig rig together. Basic starter rig is 300 watt head, paired with a 4x10, or 2x12.
