Need some help with Calculating ohms and watts

So recently Ive been wanting a tube head but I dont have the cash to put out for one right now...but I have a Kustom DE50 combo with a tube preamp and I love the tones it puts out, so I want to run my sunn 2x15's with it. I know its 50 watts wont do it without a little help. I thought of slave amps and there is a sunn concert slave for sale in my area. Will using the Kustom amp thru the slave work?

I figured out the Kustom is 50 watts @ 8 ohms
The sunn slave is 150 watts @ 4ohms
My sunn 2x15 take 200 watts @ 4 ohms


I dont know the math, Will this work?

Is the Kustom head rated to work safely at 4 ohms?

If not, running the Sunn 2x15 4 ohms cab on an amp only rated for 8 ohms could damage the amp.

If (and seriously only if) the amp is rated to work safely at 4 ohms, then it probably puts out about 100 watts @ 4 ohms, if it puts out 50 watts at 8 ohms.

The trouble is there is no line out/ effects out to slave it from. You could try the headphones out but you will have an impedance miss match.
The slave amp into the 215 would be fine. Just getting a signal to the slave amp from the DE50 is the problem (no you can't use the external speaker jack).

8 ohm output only according to the manual.

There's a XLR direct out on the kustom...but I dont think it's rated for 4ohms

Darn! I thought that woulda worked really well...

The DI is pre eq so the "sound" you like will not come from there. That is a very low power high impedance output (like to a mixing board).
You could try the headphone out to the slave amp, just be aware it may not sound right.

I said it may not sound right. The headphone outs are usually designed for headphones around 50 ohms impedance. The slave amp's input will be designed for 600-10,000 ohms impedance.

Sell the DE50, don't buy the Sunn, and buy a Kustom DE300. You can get one for $300 with free shipping, it's already one of the cheapest amp on the market.
