Need some rig advice

Hi everyone, I have the chance to pick up a Gallien Krueger 800 RB amp and a RBH 410 cab, both for $425. Any thoughts. I was told the 800 RB is kind of a dinosaur.

Yes it is a dinosaur. You will have to suffer show after show with great tone and solid reliability.
That cab is a touch on the heavy side, so a small dolly might be in order if you have to load in/out by yourself.

How many gigs will it take to pay for it? If you don't mind the bulk, that's a low-price high-quality rig. I'd smile all the way to the bank. And when you're tired of it and ready to sell it, someone will buy it because it's a low-price high-quality rig.

It's a simple game, really.

That amp is great, I have one. Download the manual and read it. The main amp sounds a lot louder than its 300 watt rating. Take it easy with the boost knob, it can be noisy.

I don't have experience with the cab.

This is a great deal. The head has great tone and is very reliable. The cab is a little heavy but has a great sound.

What do you think of the cab. Is it a good choice? Are there better options to pair with that amp?

For the price, i say buy the rig and resell whatever you don't like. You don't have to rely on anyone else's opinion of the gear.

The cab is top of the line G-K cab. It is heavy but makes up for it in sound. The amp was just recently discontinued. The 800RB was first released in 1982 and remained for all purposes unchanged until it's end this year because it is a classic. Loud, good tone, reliable, versatile and is a staple even these days in backline companies (#2 requested I believe).
BUY IT! Awesome price.
