I had been sitting on the fence with a cabinet decision and decided to go with the Avatar TB153, and power it with a Genz Streamliner 600.
I e-mailed Dave at Avatar and asked if I could squeeze-out the introductory price of $399 for the cab (worth a shot), and he e-mailed back that, not only could he no longer offer that price, but with the NEO pricing going up, the TB153 will be at $449 until this Friday, then it will be going up next week. We had a long discussion about it and he may have to go back to ceramic or get his NEO's from Celestion, which has a different import cost, pricing, etc...
So, I was going to trade-in my GK MB210 to MF, which of course has 2 NEO speakers in it, to get my Streamliner 600. I was sure to take a hit on trade-in, but thought I could work some other discount to offset the hit.
Now, I'm thinking of sitting on the amp to see how the NEO thing plays out.
Sorry for the long post, but thought I'd give people a heads-up on the Avatar pricing and ask what I should do with my GK.
Thanks!
S

Lucky to get 250 from GC for it.

I'm wondering if the retail pricing on those amps will be going up because of the NEO scare.

S | It's basically like spinning the roulette wheel at this point to try to make a buck based on value of existing used neo speakers.

Pretty considerable difference.

Pretty considerable difference. | Yeah, the 3015LF is a fraction of the weight of pretty much any similar-sized ceramic or alnico driver.

S | We're a business. We're here to make money, not to pay you exactly what your gear is worth. That's what I'll sell it at...so I can make a profit. Simple selling practices my friend. No rip off here.
Just sayin...

but until then... I guess the sky will continue falling. |

Just sayin... | Woh, sorry dude.
Maybe rip-off was too harsh a term, and for that I apologize, because I've always had a good experience, overall, with GC/MF, but we'll see what they come up with. I e-mailed my info.
All I know is, my amp is mint as mint gets, and I've seen Condition 1 at $100 less than retail for items around $600. I also wrote that I would be dealing with MF, but I guess you're family, so if you mess with family... Sorry.
Did I make nice o.k.?

True, there's no guarantee they'll sell it at the price they intend, but even so.
What kicks me is if you trade something in, they give you roughly the same amount as they would cash! So they get the markup on selling your gear, in addition to whatever markup was on the new item you purchase.
If they weren't so crappy at judging what will sell and for how much, they wouldn't have to stick it to people with stuff that's actually resellable, like Slackerprince's combo. Too busy wasting GC's money paying the same ratio for 15 year old 4x10s and beat to crap CIC basses no one wants.

I just don't like stepping on other member's toes.
It'll be interesting to see what MF offers me on a mint $600 amp.
