I'm sure this has been beat to death here but a quick search didn't tell me if the neodymium speakers are yet up to the sound and durability of a ceramic magnet speaker .
I'm old and decrepit and need a lighter rig....

Some will tell you that neo speakers have a nasty mid-spike (around 1khz IIRC) but there are good options out there now. I'm sure people will shoot a lot of good options at you in rather short time... |

Just wake up from a decade long nap?
Lots to choose from.

As an OFB (old-**** bassist) I can heartily recommend the Accugroove Tri-115. 41 lbs, loud and sounds great. FYI- it is a 3-way cab with a 15, mid and tweeter.

(so that he can remind us TB'ers that magnet material has no bearing on the sound of a speaker)
Bill, please chime in!

Just give them a few hours playing time to break in and they will warm right up. In fact I usually set my Ampeg svt7 Pro flat and get great tones from them. I never set my amps flat before recent lol. |

And it has nothing to do with the magnet material per se. Neo driver designs are newer, and few manufacturers are going to go to the time, trouble and expense of tooling new drivers without making improvements to them. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
