Great price for a hand made cab! Resurrecting classic cabs... nice work.

I'm actually interested to hear from anyone who has used Wade's 115-BH cab. Comparisons to the Ampeg SVT15E? Anyone??

My 1st reaction would be "no thanks", but would like to play thru one before passing judgement...

I am very much unformed with this cab design. Interesting!

this seems interesting, though to be honest I have no clue about how it's supposed to work

This looks like a great cab for laying on its side and inviting girls to sit in on it.

From the website description:
"Two front facing speakers and a center resonance side ported chamber containing two offset facing 15’s!"

How would that work with speakers facing each other? I'm no engineer but that seems like a messy idea ...

I like it! Though you'd have to add a hand truck to the cost if don't already have one...

Why would you? just grab the bar and tilt back on the wheels and go go go.

I remember those cabinets from circa 1980 with the acoustic 320, they will vibrate more than your pants legs.

It's a very good idea if it's 1975 or thereabouts, and all you have to choose from for drivers are 100 watters with 2mm xmax. The reason why no major manufacturers make cabs of this type anymore is that with the capabilities of modern drivers, including the CB15 used in these, there's no need.

You are correct! Funny, I skimmed right over the top of that part when I read it the first time. Guess I don't read past the asterics.

Is that not like saying with all the modern developments in poly-carbonates and graphite in instrument building , why in the world would anyone want or need a 1964 Fender Bass? Just sayin'

Okay so this idea has been around a while then; didn't know. So from an engineering standpoint what's (is or was) the benefit of the speaker's facing each other?

When mounted in a plenum as the two middle drivers are it acts as a bandpass box with those two drivers. The lows from the two drivers mounted in the plenum chamber contribute to total output, the mids and highs don't, so the low end is fattened up considerably. If you're using drivers that need help to deliver good lows it's one method to get them.

While my order for the Magma pre was only placed several days ago and is still being built, I have to say that if anyone is interested in ordering from Wade at Monolith he has given me one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. He is an awesome guy to work with and I will likely be ordering a cab from him as well in the future.

I still have one of those Acoustic 408 cabs and it's a burly beast both sound wise and haul wise.
When I got it was loaded with JBL speakers, later replaced the top 15 with a coaxial speaker.
Don't exactly know why I keep it but the last time I tried to sell it the offers were so low that it stayed with me.
