New Amp Day: Ampeg 1968 B25B

I just picked up, this morning, a 1968 Ampeg B25B amp head for free off a local craigslist listing. I didn't even turn it on. The guy I got it from says that it works but needs "TLC".

I don't know much about amps, but I figured it'd be a nice rainy day project. I don't even have a cab to plug into it. The amp is still in my car's trunk, so no pictures yet.

Any advice on what to do with it? I was thinking of using it, assuming I can get it to work/sound good, for studio recording. It's quite hefty and I don't want to keep dragging it around for rehearsals/gigs.

I'd suggest reading up on the B25 first. There is a ton of information on talkbass and quite a few members have these heads. They're interesting little amps. Fairly similar to a B15 in sound, but the output transformers require either one or two 16 ohm cabs or a single 8 ohm cab if you put a dummy plug in the main output, so they can be limiting at least in terms of your cab choice.

I've been wanting to get one of those heads for a while. If you find yourself not having time for it, I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands
