New Amp Day! Gallien Krueger Content

Sign in to disble this ad
So today, I went to Guitar Center, armed with a $500 gift card and some money from our band budget. I was looking for a Gallien Krueger MB200 and a 410 MBE 800W. While neither was available, they did have a lone 400RB and some sort of Neo 600W cabinet. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I paired them up, and it was instantly awesome. It pretty much inherently has the tone I've been trying to get for months out of my old rig. It's really easy to get a wide range of tones out of, and still fairly portable. while it's still 200W, it packs a massive punch and is much louder than my Acoustic B200 combo could ever get. I can push it to full volume levels on everything with no clipping (I don't intend on doing so, but it's nice). As a nice side effect, if I boost the level and gain volumes a good bit, I get a really nice, thick fuzz. I think I'm able to drive the amp so hard because the cab can take far more power. Sounds awesome.

The head was used and the cab new. I got them both with 2 year warranties and a speakon cable for $540.

Now that I look them up, however, the head seems to be discontinued and the cab seems to be.... non existent. There doesn't seem to be a 410 with a 600W power handling. A little confused, so if somebody could shed some light, that would be great.

Pics a must. Is it a G-K NEO cab? The only 600 watt NEO cab I know by G-K is a 212 (awesome cab). The 400RB is really old (but a very desirable amp), went through the 400RB III and 400RB IV soon to be re-released.

It was labeled as a Neo cab, but it's too heavy to be. Pics later. Love the sound though.

Be sure to take a pic of the input plate (rear of cab) as well as the front.

That would be the series II (detachable power cord, the original had a non-detachable power cord). Not a big enough change in the amp to bring out the "series II" for silk-screening.
That is a newer grill and G-K logo on the 410 cab!

One year. Two on the cab. What do you think the cab is?

Input plate on the rear should tell us that.

If it has a biamp/full range switch, a level control for the horn. The Neo and MBE series 410's are 800 watt input, the MBX is 400 watt input. Could be a discontinued BLX? No rat fur so not the SBX with a grill change. Do you remember if it has a horn or ported? Cell pic is not the clearest.

It has a horn and full range switch, but no real level control. It's got a big red button by the full range switch. Maybe it's not a button, but a big red round thing. Couldn't figure out what it did

Well no level control means it is not a NEO series cab anyway The red "button" could be a plastic plug for the 1/4" jack.
Maybe a RBX series.

Congrats! I scored a 400RB a few weeks back from a fellow TB'r and it's the best GK cab I've heard.

No doubt on the head, I got the 400RB III which resembles the BL600. I've had mine for over five years and never had a problem.
One year warranty is very good.
If the OPs 410 cab was a blx there would have been a "BLX" at the lower right of the grill.

I looked up the RBX 410. Same speaker and horn combo, but it looks a different color and different grill. Also, mine doesn't have casters or spring loaded handles like the RBX. I bought the cab looking for something transportable, and it's really bulky and only has a top handle.
