Ordered the new Hartke LH500 head, with Bass Attack Pedal/DI last weekend... Said it was backordered and would ship June 5... got email said it would BE HERE tomorrow.... Went and picked up a used SWR Goliath III 4x10 to run it through tonight. WOOHOO! AM psyched with a silent capital P.

PS: (And I have a used SX Jazz shortie getting here this weekend. just a cheapo to backup the Birdsong, but I thought i would throw that in too).

Got home in time to grab the head (got delivered to the neighbors today) and head to practice. Good grief, the LH500 and Goliath III 4x10 sound awesome! Huge sound... so much more clarity and definition than my old rig (Ashdown EB 180 15" and 2x10 extension cab), I love it. My guitarist was going nuts about it too. The drummer just got a set of mics and a big sub... We were thumpin' tonight... I cannot wait to get into a bigger room (we practice in the garage, of course) and really open it up...

Love My New Hartke!

Just got my my LH500. This thing is great. paired it with my Ampeg BXT115 @4ohms. Took it on 3 gigs already and our soundman says my mix at the board is FLAT! He doesn't DI me, he likes using a mic on the cab. Our list is very diverse too, from ac/dc to Zep, Bob Marley, P funk, some Motown and some modern stuff and the amp really has a great tone for all these styles. For just having Vol,Bass, mid,Treble, they really interact with each other well. BTW I also bought the Hydrive 210c combo, nice for small rooms too. Not too keen on the new cabs though.

Hey Bob, (from another bass player Bob...)

I love this head. I got the Goliath III 4x10 and my drummer and geetar love it. Honestly, I have not been able to really let it loose in a big room outside our practice garage, but got 2gigs this weekend, and I can't wait. Right now I am looking for a cheap used rack case to put the head in.

I like the controls. It sounds great and adjustments are easy, and I do not find myself constantly fiddling to get things better... I am uberpleased with the purchase...

I also found out today how much i like it. I did a fill in gig today and used the other guys bass rig, some kind of tube pre amp, into a QSC monster power amp and an Avatar B410 neo cab. Sounded good, but the preamp had so many knobs and switches, compressor, mid sweep, notch this and that, i didnt know where to start! But in the end my 4 knobs would have done the job. BTW is your SWR cab wired at 4 or 8 ohms?

8... so I am only using 350 of those watts, butt that will probably suffice at any place my band will play anytime soon... But eventually I plan on another cab to go with...

At least you can add on a 210 or a 15 if you like, i cant with my cab, but so far so good.
