New Amp Recomendations??

hi,
i havent really got a clue about bass amps....
im in a band that play an indie/britpop sound,
im currently playing through an old laney 160w combo which has seen better days, so im looking to buy a new set up...
iv got a bugget of £500-£600
we'r playing venues that range from capacities off 400 to outside festival stages.
what do you recomend i go for??
iv been looking at the ampeg portaflex pf350 head with PF-115LF cab
any help would be greatful.

Sorry I have no idea what that transfers to in dollars??? I always reccomend to people moving up from a combo to look at separate pre amps and bass power amps instead of heads. If you plan on playing bass for a while they are nice because you can change preamps pretty cheap. As far as cabs avatar seems to get a lot of good reviews on talkbass but I've never owned one. You can actually get an ampeg classic 410he cheaper than a top of the line avatar and its a great cab. As a former 6x10 and 8x10 owner i would say stay away from them unless you have a crew of people moving your gear for you. They sound great though. I don't like combos because you are stuck with the sounds it can do and it's rough to lift a lot of combos because they have the amp and the cab all in the same unit.

Played through a GK MB 210 II last night.

I think I may sell my firstborn or left leg to get the loot to buy one.

The amp is something else. Monster tone, incredible volume.

Check one out.

I second that!
