New Ampeg BA 115 pops when power off

Sign in to disble this ad
Just purchased a new Ampeg BA 115 last night. I get a definite "pop" when powering off. First the red light dims and seems things are shutting down, then a pop and it powers off completely.
New out of the box.
All volume and even tone controls turned down fully.
Happens on two different electrical outlets, doesn't matter if a bass is plugged in.

Any similar experiences, thoughts?

I will be going back to GC, will update if I find anything out.

Thanks for any help

(I am extremely new to playing bass, less than a month. Very new to guitar, just under 1 year.)

That's actually par for the course. Nothing wrong with your amp.

Mine does the same thing. It has also been in and out of the shop several times on warranty issues.

My current BA115 is my second one, and both always did that when turning power off. Nothing abnormal, IMO.

I believe that amp has a mute switch. I have a BA-115HP and always mute before turning it off. No pop.

Yep, unfortunately no mute on my BA115. It's the low cost model.

A friend of mine at work uses a BA115 at his church. Same pop thing. It's maybe ten years old and does not seem to have caused any problems.

Thanks everyone for your info. Makes me feel better to know that it is expected. Otherwise, I am enjoying the amp for my goal - a practice amp that sounds more like a real bass.
