New Ampeg Micro CL Stack is now available

Just wondering if anyone is going to check it out. Not as many features/power as the Micro VR, but is also priced less.

They don't have one locally, just the VR which I thought was an awesome amp.

Definitely want to check it out. Got a Micro VR already but the Micro CL looks pretty cool, too.

I got a chance to play through one this afternoon as I was looking for a practice combo for less then $400. Let me say that it is loud and punchy and has plenty of bottome for only 100 watts. I played through a fender jazz as well as a stingray 5 string and it handled the low B with ease. For the price and tone I am definitely going to pick one up!

I played one a couple days ago at Sam Ash. Sounds very much like the Micro VR except has a single volume knob and not separate gain/master. Cool little rig.

Looks like a very nice unit. One thing I do notice is that the cabinet is significantly heavier than the Micro VR mini stack at 33.2 lbs vs. 25.9 lbs for the SVT210AV cabinet.

The CL cabinet does not appear to have Eminence drivers. The Ampeg website specifically states that the VR cab has Eminence drivers, but doesn't mention the brand of drivers in the CL cab. I guess this would be a big reason for the price difference....

My guess - and it is only a guess - is that the cab on the CL is made from MDF as opposed to the birch plywood that the SVT210AV is said to be made of.
MDF is heavier than birch.

This info does not appear on the Ampeg website, but if you download the user manuals for each, the SVT210 says "birch plywood" but the CL manual does not address cabinet construction, so, by omission, it must be something less expensive than plywood.

Guess I'll be the guinea pig on this one; just placed an order and should have it Friday. This will be my first Ampeg.

It's a fun little rig, dude. Wouldn't do a Metallica gig with it but it's got the sound.

It's a bedroom amp, and maybe the occasional bass/drum rehearsal.

Ya, the Acoustic sounds good right up until the single 10" gives up on you.

I got the Micro CL Friday, and I really like it. So much better than the GK MB112 I sent back to get this. The GK had a boomy bottom and soft midrange. The Ampeg has a deep, tight bottom with a real punchy midrange. I was worried it wouldn't have enough snap, but it has more than enough. I'm considering selling my big rig to purchase a comparable Ampeg setup.

Micro-CL Head and Cab not sold separately

I wonder why Ampeg would not sell the Micro-CL head separately, which they do for the Micro-VR. I'm gassing for the Micro-CL but can't spare any room space for the cab....

A solid state amp that only runs at 8 ohms probably doesn't have as big a market as a little SVT looking combo with an 8 ohm only head.

I bought one the other day and tried it out at a gig.
It's sound isn't that great and even playing a low G causes it to rattle and fart out.
Pretty sure it's going right back to the shop

I wouldn't consider this a gigging amp; I play in church and have a 500 watt / 410 rig for that. 100 watts won't cut through much. For me it's just a really cool bedroom amp.
