I just wanted to say I am sorely tempted to get rid of my BA115 to make room for the PF500 and the 1x15 cab (and likely eventually a second cab). It shouldn't take me more than two or three months to save up for it, and I think this would be far more useful to me in the long run. Still, I would at least like to wait and hear some reviews first.

C.Linton...sounds like a good plan! Save some money, use your BA115, then dump the BA115 and grab the PF500 plus cab. Sweet looks and likely better tone. Make it happen!

Yeah, if these new PF amps ahd been out at the same time I was originally amp-shopping when I got the BA115, I probably would have gotten one of these instead. The only thing that might keep me from getting one now is the fact that I'm not playing out right now with no foreseeable opportunity for me do do so, especially considering how rusty I am and how much work I need to do to get me back up to snuff. As it is, I'm not using the BA-115 at all right now, (I'm pretty much in bedroom practice mode, and not being particularly disciplined about it) it seems kinda silly for me to get a different amp that I will likely not use either. However, I like the idea of having the option of getting a much more useable gigging amp should the opportunity for playing out come up.

from the last thread:

That would be a bad move by Ampeg. Investors buying the tube ones wouldn't be happy with diluted prices from cheap ones being made by the same company.
i don't care. even if i had bought a heritage b-15 (i really wanted to but my wife informed me i'll have to wait till at least the next run), i wouldn't care if they made an imported b-15, too. maybe the snobs would but screw 'em. using a b-15 has never been about snob appeal to me, and it certainly wasn't jess' goal when he designed it.

"Ampeg has this new line of SS that is going to be a big seller anyhow."

true dat. after getting this fantastic little micro vr stack, i'm really looking forward to seeing what the new stuff can do.

As a proud owner of a B50R and a B100R, I need to see how these sound, how much they weigh, and if it brings something I can use that the combos don't already have.

It is exciting! These look very cool!

Jimmy, as a pro, can't you claim the cost of new gear every few years against your taxes?? We can up here - Just thinkin'.

Edit: Really wanting to hear your opinion on this new version.

Any gear I buy ALWAYS goes on taxes as a deduction.....IRS has never said anything, legitimate business expense.

As long as you don't deduct more than you make, then they consider it a "hobby."

i deduct EVERYTHING! basses, amps, strings, picks, mileage, onstage clothing, meals on the road, etc. but being able to deduct stuff doesn't mean you have an unlimited budget, nor does it mean it'll work out to your advantage to buy a really expensive amp then deduct it on your taxes.

I deduct everything too. As far as I am concerned, it is the only way to get down.

It looks like Ampeg is really back on the right track. Glad to see it. Can't wait to hear and play these new models.

+1 to this. People are buying/willing to buy a reissue B-15 because it's a quality product and they can afford them. Does the presence of the overseas SVT-CL/8x10 dilute the value of the heritage CL/8x10? Doubt it.
