New Ampeg SVT Pro 4 - need rack case ideas

Hey Talk Bass SVT Pro 4 users

Just upgraded to a Ampeg SVT Pro 4 head. Need to mount this beast in a case. Anyone have any rack case ideas or brands you recommend? Any thing out there with wheels?

No idea, but I would advise that any rack you use for it, the amp should be on the bottom, and make sure you put some support under it so the chassis doesn't flex and cause a potential short.

Not sure of the brand name. Mine just sits in one of the big black cases with the silver metal trim and corners. Removable lids front and back.

Road Ready makes some great rack cases. I have my 6 Pro in one. Racks come in different depths for amps and effects. Make sure you get the correct depth.

When I was hauling around the boat anchor that was my SVT4 PRO (damn they're heavy, relatively speaking), I used an SKB rack box. They are quite heavy duty, don't add too much to the weight and are relatively inexpensive for what you get. They come in all kinds of different rack space sizes and if I remember correctly, the SVT4 PRO is a full 3 rack spaces all on its own.

Killer amp btw OP but I have a feeling you already know that.

Turock: I learned to play through an instructor, then I got an amp and now I play through that.

I bought mine used off e bay several years ago and put it in an SKB case like has been mentioned here and other than how heavy it is it sounds fabulous and I will never need a bigger amp ever.

I think I am gassing for a PF-500 though... 500 "Ampeg" watts in about 12lbs? yep. definitely. gassing.

What ever rack you do end up getting, I'd recommend putting holes in the side for ventilation so it can breathe otherwise you run the risk of it overheating.
I put some holes in my rack and it ended up running a lot cooler.
