New Appreciation for GB Shuttle 3.0

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been playing through a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T for several years now as my main gigging amp, usually pairing it with an Avatar B112. Playing with two fairly loud guitarists, I do occasionally run out of head room, so I'd been thinking about upgrading.

Last night, I filled in with another local band for an outdoor wedding reception and I didn't know if I'd have PA support so I was a little worried I'd be woefully short on stage volume. On a whim, I broke my old Genz Benz 410T XB cabinet out of "retirement" and paired it with the Shuttle 3.0 head for the gig.

Holy smoke! This rig had amazing tone and ample stage volume- I never saw the clip light come on once all night. The Shuttle looks incredibly tiny on top of this cabinet but it sure go the job done.

It's a lot more trouble to haul the 4x10 around, but after last night I think it'll be seeing a lot more use.

I have also been amazed at the output of my NeoPak 3.5. Those guys at GB have my vote

I have come back to my 3.0 combo as well. I also have added a 110 extension. My little stack sounds amazing and fills any stage and room I need . When it doesn't, I have PA support. I loved all the other GB stuff I've used on the past, but the combo of light weight, great sound and easy portability have me back to this rig. Unless something changes drastically, this is it for me.

Now if I could only settle on a bass I like as much as my Genz Benz stuff...

With the very compact speaker cabinets, there are some tradeoffs compared with full sized cabinets. It's up to each player to decide which cabinet size works best for them.

If any of you have access to an Uber 115 and an Uber 1288, that stack with a Shuttle 3.0 opened my eyes as to the little amp's potential.

No Über 115 but there's a 1288 at the store. Fortunately, I don't NEED that much power/volume. If I did I'd use a 1288 and a 9.0.
