Alright, so I've judged GK pretty poorly ever since my dad brought home a 1x15 from Guitar Center when I started playing. It was one of those backlines and it lasted about 2-3 years and then started to just have a ton of problems. After that experience I said many times that I would never buy a GK product. However, over the last few years I've played the MB500 and was very impressed. I must admit that GK does have a sound that is just particularly musical to me. Last night I went into my band (
http://www.mendelssohnmusic.com) practice spot and put the Fusion 550 on my Eden 4x10XLT (8ohms). Now I gotta say I have to figure out how to save settings, because when I turned this guy on all the knobs moved. My banjo/mando player freaked out when this happened and we all had a good laugh. I set the head to the following (Treble: 11 o'clock Bass: 12 o'clock High Mid: 12-1 Low Mid: 3 o'clock and contour at 10 o'clock no boosts). I believe the setting I used was very flat and I found it in a recent review. I had the master and gain at 9 o'clock and in a 6 piece band this head cut through (btw the tweeter and hi amp were off). The head did well for the two and a half hour practice we had. I will add more to this post after the gig I have tonight.
ps how can I post pictures?
