New Berg set-up - CHOICE MADE!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I've gone and done it to myself this time....
just received an EX112.
Now I'm sitting on an HT210, HT115 and the EX.

I was really wanting to go with the lightest config and get rid of HT210, but I find myself wanting the extra lowend sometimes. BTW...I love 15's.

Which cab should stay, and which should go?

**The HT115 stays*****

I've thought about the 112 + 115 + 210 stack, but man that would be a pain to move around.

Well I've made my decision.........
The HT115 stays!!!!

This little stack HT115 on its side (w/ horn on top-side) and the EX112 sitting on top sounds fantastic.
The 115 NEEDS to be turned to place the horn in the middle, or else you just lose all of the highs up close. You can still hear them as you walk away from the rig, but you certainly don't feel like you have them when you're standing in front of the cabs.
The 112 and the 115 move very well together w/ the 115 providing that little extra bottom and some more mid reinforcement in addition to the highs coming from the horn.
It's definitely very easy to sound old-school, and with a little EQ'ing the spectrum can be attained.

The 112 is easy to angle upward for a more intimate monitoring experience by just slipping a piece of medium to high density foam under the front-side. It kind of de-couples the cabs, but I'm going to mess around with material type.

Here's a couple pics.

Very cool. I am one who finds the old HT210 quite wide sounding and lacking mid definition and punch. The HT115 is actually more balanced to my ear, but still a little too mid shy to me when used alone. So, the addition of the 112, which actually sounds somewhat compressed in the low end to me when played alone, makes total sense as a way to 'balance' the tone when combined.

I bet that sounds great! Congrats!

The HT115 is a great cab. Its become my go to cab for smaller one cab gigs and is great underneath another cab for bigger situations.

Cool rig. Love the Berg stuff.

I had an HT210/HT115 stack. For smaller stuff I tried both cabs as standalones. I really dug the HT115 more than the HT210. Dont get me wrong, I liked the HT210, but the HT115 was MAGIC.

That is IMO, the best 1x15 cab out there.

I now have the Epi UL115. It's definitely NOT in the same league as the HT115, tone wise. I got it because it's better for me weight-wise.

I had an Epi T115 that sounded great, but was definitely more pillowy.

The older Epi T115's, that had different dimensions than the current Epi 115's, were the bomb. But pretty heavy!

BTW, a 1x15 and a 1x12 are a great combo. And that Berg stack is gettin' me hot!!

Berg HT115

I have owned/tried several cabs and when I heard the HT115 cab, it had my ear hooked. It is compact and very balanced sound wise. What I really dig about this 15", is that the lows are controlled and not boomy. I am glad to see that others enjoy this cab as well. I actually had other bass players ask me about my set up and I am happy about that. You know it is a good tone when another player notices from a ditance. Thanks Mr. Jim Bergantino for your careful design.
