New Cab Advice please.

Hello all.. I recently purchased (off T.B.), a Traynor YBA 200. Now I should have a new Cabinet to go with it. I am looking at having a cabinet made by a fellow here in Canada (www.saxon-cabs.ca) and here is what he suggests. A cabinet (ported) with 2, 12 inch speakers (2X12) using either a Basslite S2012's OR Delta 12FLA's. I have not heard either of these speakers so I was wondering which ones do you,the T.B. community suggest? Thankyou Laurie

The S2012 isn't a bad driver. The Delta 12LF is obsolete. But his website says he makes guitar cabs, and the size of his listed 2x12 bears that out, it's too small for bass.

The Delta 12LFA or the LFC are certainly not obsolete. Not sure where you are getting your info.
Nowhere on my site does it say the listed GUITAR cabs are suitable for bass. Bass cabs are built around selected speakers not standard dimensions.

Avatar could be a better choice Laurie. Cheers.

.
When the Delta 12LF was introduced a decade ago its 4.8mm xmax was significantly better for low frequency (that's what LF stands for) output than the 3mm average for electric bass drivers at that time. But 4.8mm is no longer above average. By today's standards the Delta 12LF is very much obsolete. The S2012 xmax is 5.2mm, so it's actually capable of more low frequency output than the D12LF, and it has considerably better mids as well. The 3012LF, with 9.1mm xmax, will take nearly four times the power that the D12LF can before farting out.

Perhaps you should consider saying so on your website. As it is now it does not appear that you offer bass cabs.

I am only basing my recommendation on reviews, options, and the fact that saxon said and I quote "Nowhere on my site does it say the listed GUITAR cabs are suitable for bass." I guess I took this the wrong way. Cheers.

Hey LB.

Another fellow Canadian here (with ties to the East coast no less). Please keep me posted on your success especially if you use Saxon cabs. I'm very intersted to hear how it works out.

The shipped quote he gave me seems quite reasonable.
