New Cab Day! BR115

I woke at 9:00 a.m. this morning to be sure that my cabinets didn't get dropped off by the brown truck only to be snagged up by some neighborhood hoodlums. I have been anxiously waiting on the couch by the front door all day to hear the sound of the diesel truck I am so familiar with.

(I'm employed by UPS, for five and one half years now. Don't gripe to me about how someone else mishandled your package, I treat every package as mine, because I know the pain of damaged parcels.)

It is not 6:30 p.m. and I am starving, I haven't eaten much more than some carrots and fish sticks to keep me at bay. I just thought that I would go ahead and start this thread and give you guys some eye candy. I have people asking me to give a review of this piece of equipment, and I plan on doing so. For the time being, I'm going to let the cab get used to my house's temperature before I plug and play. It has been in a semi-trailer all weekend, and in a metro car all day, it's cold outside (24 degress F).

So far the impression it has given me is wow, the quality of the build is outstanding, really solid. There are no tears in the tolex, the metal corners are all attached very well. The recessed handles are metal. My only concern at this point is the plastic control plate on the back, I'd like for it to be metal.

So without further introduction, I present to you Carvin's BR115.

I have one too paired with a GK BL600 ... great sounding cab with a 5 position tweeter.

You can't go wrong with Carvin nor can you beat the prices.

What I did with the extra money that I had planned on spending, (approx $1k) is buy a new bass. A Squier VM Jazz with 3TSB, and a tort pickgaurd. The bass should be in tomorrow, granted it's in perfect condition from the warehouse.

After I get through the initial testing, I plan on running a line from my effects send of a 800RB to the effects return of a BL600, that I also have. The BL600 will be powering a 215 Peavey cab with Eminence Legend CB15's. A wall of 15's to piss off the neighbors I haven't pissed off yet!

Ok, so I got to noodle around on the bass for a while, and what a difference these cabs make. I found that I had to dial back all of my knobs for EQ. I love a mid heavy EQ with some sparkle of treble.

On my 800RB, I used to have the high-boost filter on, and the mids boosted to 2-3 o clock. Now the high-boost filter is off, the mids are knocked down to near 1 o clock, and I had to cut the bass even more to about 10-11 o clock.

I turned the tweeters off, though I did start with them at 0 db (full on). I found they were too much for me, but I might grow to like them. Maybe I'll put it at -24db.

I know the speakers are young, so I'm not going to push them hard, yet.

So far, I am extremely happy with the purchase, and I'm going to go back to noodling.
