new cab for GK700RB. your input?
I own a GK RB 700rbII
I'm looking for a new speaker cabinet.
I have owned a GK NEO 212, and I feel that it is bang-for-buck one of the best cabinets available.
That said, I'm considering an Ampeg cabinet; mostly out of concern for cosmetics.
I played the 212AV with the V4B, and I felt that the tone was tight, but the low E didn't hit all that hard (not necessarily a bad thing, depending on where and what you're playing).
However, the 112AV dips a little bit lower. Maybe this would give a little more girth to the lows?
I'm aware that in the end it's all up to what I prefer, but I'm curious as to what set-up you would recommend; hence the poll.
Mesa PH 212
I think it just depends on what your tone goals are. I had the 700RB-II with the GK Neo 212 and it was a great rig but I was wanting a little more of a vintage vibe so was looking at Ampeg cabs cause I think they pair well for more old school tone. Then the GB Streamliner came along and that's what I went with. Sometime soon I'm going to get the V4B reissue and will pair that with the Ampeg SVT 212 AV.
I voted GK NEO 212.
What I meant was GK NEO 412.
I currently have my 700RB II paired with a GK NEO 412, man does it slay.
But yeah the 212 is excellent. And you could always add another.
For me, the reason I wanted to try a GK RB series head was the horn management system.
So; I'd go with the GK Neo212.
But, I think the GK amps sound better at 4 ohms because I want cleaner sound and I think they get dirty earlier at 8 ohms. So, I'd get a 4 ohm cab, for me. Or, add a Neo 112 or 212 to get there.
ymmv on that.

what are you looking for in a cab? how much do you want to spend? what kind of music do you play? is weight a factor? I have been playing Ampeg for a long time now but I would consider changing if I decided to pick up a harder gig.
I use a 700RBII withe an Ampeg 410HE - sounds great!
I have paired the 700RB with the 410HE. It really is a nice set-up. The weight (at least as posted on ampeg.com) is a little on the hefty side for such a weakling as myself.
Since we are off topic and on to Ampeg 410's, I can't help but wonder two things:
1. How awesome the RB would sound with the Heritage 410HLF.
2. Will they release a 410HE Heritage?
Does the PF 410HLF sound different than the SVT410HLF?
Ampeg should come out with a PF410HE.
I use the 700Rbll with a Hartke 4-10 Xl. Been using it for years under all kinds of situations , small clubs, Out door concerts ( we always have P.A. support) Sounds great!
Mine sounded awesome with a GK neo 115-II
it sounded even better with a GK neo 115-II and a GK neo 212-II
As a standalone cab my favorite one was the 115
I recommend the GK 212 Neo. Then add another.
212, the poll is pretty clear.
