Hey all!
Just pulled the trigger on a Genz Benz Streamliner 600 and now I'm looking for the best cabinet to match her up to.
I would prefer a 410 cab with 4 ohms but not limited to that. Its just that my old cabinet was a 410 and I really liked the 410 articulation thats all. Though in have read that some 210's are just as effective.

My budget being between $500 - $800 dollars.

Any advice, direction and even offers would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks in advance !

Have a very Merry Christmas !

peace !

moe. : )

I realize you're not getting the advice you seek, and this isn't going to help much either, but at least it may explain why. I think the reason you're not getting a lot of response is because speaker/cabinet technology has improved so much lately that you can get a much smaller/better cab that will do or outdo what 4 10s used to do. I would suggest the fEARfuls as a place to start or a pair of Audiokenisis Thunderchild 1-12s.

Of course, I could be entirely wrong and it could just be that everyone is out doing last minute Christmas shopping and you'll get 4-10 responses after the holiday. But in your original post you seemed open to the possibility of other configurations, so it might be worth checking out.

I understand now. Thanks !
So I should ask then can I get the same "oomph" out of let's say a 210 like I would from an older 410 cab and if so, which of the above cabinets would you guys say might sound the warmest.....?

Thanks again so much for your patience with me as I search these things out!!!!

Peace !

I can't think of any 210's that would outperform a 410. In general, more speakers equals more volume and more oomph. Now, there are some 2x12's that will keep up with a 410, but again, it's a case by case thing, and generalizations will only get you so far. best practice is to audition the cabs personally, and let your ears be the judge.

Thanks Ricken!
As obvious as that IS in fact the best way to decide, (no doubt about it) I'm just asking to see/ hear different opinions about my current amp of choice and perhaps any cabs that would be the most comparable. I've thought of a simple Genz Benz to GB cab... Then again I understand that Aguilars are pretty sweet.

Just asking ya know ?

Thanks a ton bro !

Try a GB UBER410 to tame the SL600's low-mids and add punch 'n articulation.

The deduction I take discussions I have read about SL600/900 heads is that they are warm and can easily get lost in the mix if you're not careful with the gain and low mids. Based on that, might be a good idea to pair it with cabs with rolled-off bass and low mids. UBER 410 sounds like that, in my experience.

I think Aguilars and SWR Goliaths can do somewhat the same, but in different flavors.

Just to add to the previous discussion: conventional 210 cabs can't compete with the volume levels of conventional 410 cabs. To do that you need custom-built cabs, like fEARful's and BFM's Jacks. These cabs have more things going in to their design that they can sound big despite their size. You can't buy them off-store though, and little chance to audition one before buying.

I couldn't have said it better. But, I still like 12's. Two, to be exact.

Not sure what style of music you play, or at what volume, but .......

There may be howls of disapproval after I post this, but from my experience I would advise against using 2 x 10s (even 2 of them) unless you play in a restaurant/quiet club band.
Loud rock? Forget it!

Assuming you need volume, from your list a quad box is going to be the loudest, followed by the 2x12.
IMHO the 2x12 is about equivalent to a 3x10 cab in output.

Just curious, what exactly are the neodymium drivers in these Gallien-Krueger 410MBE cabs? Eminence of some sort?

I just switched from a 410HLN to a 1212/6/1 and in my opinion, there is no comparison in articulation, thump or output. I'm using a Shuttle 9.0

Custom made drivers by GK. No other information was given, AFAIK.
