New Carvin Micro bass combo amps!

These look very cool! I have one of the BRX212 combo amps, and it has been rock solid. The little 10" combo seems like a great LITTLE amp. Probably not very loud, but tiny and cheap, and has the drive control, and a decent EQ. Another hit for the boys from San Diego?

Very interesting, especially the 3 way 12 with the 45 degree mounted woof.

This may compel me to make a trip to their Sacramento showroom!

Bump. My lazy sell and my dad are both interested in these. I wish Carvin did some pro demo videos or clinics so us east coasters could get a hit!

Those are very cool. The BX500 sounds great, so it is cool they based them off of that.

Yah.

Maybe somebody's close enough to a Carvin store to audition them and post a quick review, when these become available..?

Very cool!

BUT...

I have to have an extension cab to get 250 watts? Give me more juice than that people!

No, what you really want is decibels, which are a measure of loudness. Who cares how many watts it takes to get what you want?

And, the difference between 200w and 250w is under 1dB SPL, which isn't audible. You get 3dB just by doubling the speakers, which is equivalent to a doubling of power. Watts mean nothing in this case.

Wednesday 7/21?

I just called the Sacramento Carvin store and the sales guy that answered told me they most likely would have the new micro bass combos in the showroom this Wednesday (7/21/10). I'll call back then to see if I should drive over to check them out!

Yeah, I understand that, but watts do measure power to a degree. Unless the wattage on these amps is severely underrated, then 200-250 watts is not going to get the job done in a lot of live situations, even if the cabs are super-efficient.

Also, I see no dedicated extension cabs for these things. Does anyone know if they are planning on making them? Carvin's other cabs weigh more than these combos, which kind of defeats the purpose IMO.

Really?!

If a 32lb combo is heavy, I want to see what you're lugging around!

that 12", 6" plus horn combo looks pretty cool!

and they all offer pre/post DI, and all can use an extension cab and you can choose your toltex color for a little extra.

some of the features i really wanted on the gk mb stuff

my carvin experiences have been mixed.. can't wait to hear a review. i wonder if that downfiring 12" speaker makes it too quiet if you are standing next to it. wish it was a kick back.

small combos like these really shine when they have a kick back feature. wish all small combos could be kick backed.

I just put myself on the list for the 15" version. Something I can just throw in the passenger seat of the truck when I need to go to an audition, and it'll make a good spare with reasonable volume with an external 15". I'll let you all know how it works out. Not sure what the queue is on these things. Could be a while.

II was worried about the wattage myself, but then I looked at my 1200 watt Carvin head that never goes above 3 and remembered that their amps are LOUD!
