New Eden gear ????? SWR ?????

Sign in to disble this ad
I am currently playing through Mesa gear and thinking about upgrading to a PH412 cab, but before I do I want to explore all options. I have enjoyed Eden gear in the past and actually had the most compliments from sound engineers about my tone with Eden gear.

How is Eden's quality these days?

What about SWR?

I do 100 plus shows per year and need an amp I can rely on every weekend and then some.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Don't know about the "new" Eden stuff. I've always liked Hartke as a close 2nd, however, I recently purchased one of their combo units and discovered it was made in China...sad. I think if I were in your shoes, I'd be looking at Aguilar too.

I used to sell Eden and SWR gear in 2005-2007 at a local shop. I was a huge Eden fan and would still purchased used Eden gear from before the take over with no reservations. But to be totally honest, we had nothing but problems with Eden gear as far as the product breaking down or worse showing up new in the store in non working condition. Customer service was a nightmare and we eventually dropped the line. I honestly have heard nothing good about Eden since that time.

SWR is also a brand that personally like as well as Eden but I also tend to go used for the Pre Fender gear. But that is just my take, I have seen no drop in quality since the merger... just some weird marketing deisions. But I would not have a problem buying new SWR gear...I just don't buy new gear...it is way too expensive.

I've heard rumors that Eden seems to be recovering their footing from the CS perspective, but have no experience with their newer gear. The good news is that there is a fair amount of Minnesota product available on the used market, and I've found that product to be very good quality over the years... and sounds great too.

I have a WT550B pared with an Epifani PS410, and I love the setup, but I got it because I could not afford its equal in a Mesa setup. I can’t speak on the New Eden gear, but IMHO I’d stay with the Mesa unless you don’t like the sound of Mesa!

You should check out DNA cabs if you like Eden and SWR. The brains behind behind Eden and some of SWR cabs new company is DNA. (David Nordschow Amplification: Home) I like my Eden gear. If I need to buy something new, I would check out DNA. I haven't tried any of their stuff yet to have any real opinion on it, but I would guess that their Cabs and eventualy amps (coming out soon) will rock.

I currently use an SWR PRO 350 with a Eden 2x10 and a Eden 1x15. This is my first go with Eden gear and so far I really like it! I would also suggest GK or some of Aguliar's new stuff.
