New Genz Benz Endorser...Rig Showed Up Today!

I guess you could say I'm happy about this

I got a ShuttleMax 12.0
Uber 212
Uber 410

Since my main two gigs are on slap style upright, I went there first, set everything flat, started digging in...began suffering from option anxiety almost immediately! Getting an upright LOUD is kinda tricky, but the amount of eq helped a lot and I was rocking in no time. The amp has a learning curve for sure...so many options.

I stacked the cabs with the 212 on the bottom and the 410 on top...really cool, huge sound. Tried them each by themselves and was surprised to find I slightly preferred the 212 if I could only use one...the low mids on that cab are really something special.

Grabbed my P-Bass, set everything back to flat and was shocked...AMAZING sounding rig...knocking over walls but never buckled. I figured I wouldn't like it as much for electric...always been fine with more old school, tubey kinda stuff, but this amp shocked me...so hard to get a bad sound...next up was my hollowbody electric...again, Fantastic...the best that bass has ever sounded (custom shop First Act Delia)...

Still need to dial in the uprights, but so far I couldn't possibly be happier!

Not as happy with UPS...my 410 came smashed a bit in 2 different spots...i wanted to mess them up myself!!!

PS, any upright dudes use this setup? eq tips? I think I have a handle on it, but am open to ideas!

Mark

Congrats on the new rig, but I would give UPS a good talking to about messing up my brand-new stuff. Either way, have fun with it man!

I guess I should talk to UPS...everything sounds fine...just really bad dings for something brand spanking new.

Lightbulb Interesting..............

I was considering either the Uber 212, or Uber 410, as a one cabinet rig..........I find it interesting that you said you prefer the 212, if you could only have one. I asked another TB'er that very question, and they said the same thing!

I have heard though, the Uber 410s bottom end can't be beat, but the mids in the Uber 212 are sweet!

Looking forward to hearing more on your comparison between the two!

I own the same stack. When I use just one cab I like the 212 better also, but both sound very good.

Try stacking them the other way up, with the 212 on top, and see how it works for you -- it's likely to be damaged by overpowering before the 410, and you're more likely to hear it complaining if it's nearer to your ears. Plus if you like its overall sound better, why not get it up where you can hear it?

How are the upper mids on the 212? I have an interest in that as a one cab situation...

I'm so thrilled so far, the bashed up cab delivery notwithstanding

Don't take my word for it yet! Only have a couple hours on the rig...will post more tomorrow for sure! ironically, it's the lower end stuff that I'm really enjoying about the 212 as of right now...not as hypey or detailed as the 410, makes a more 'singular' statement...all these opinions may change in a few hours though!

Funny, because I'm still totally jealous of your 1288's! I'm gonna have to do more testing tomorrow...I wouldn't say upper mids are it's strength right off the bat, but again...more critical listening is required To my ears initially, it has a really cool low end/low mid thing, then jumps up to the horn pretty quick...depending on what you want from upper mids...I swear, I'll seriously test this asap! 2 new cabs and a VERY different type of head is a lot to take in so quickly...esp as head as feature rich as this one

My 1288s are great on my gig.... I was just wondering about the 212... What i really need , is to pick up is a 210 so when i get a small gig i dont bring half ,my larger rig,, haha.

Did you actually play in The Good Rats, SVT? If so, that's VERY cool!

Ok, had a chance to fool around with the rig some more...

If I could only use one cab, still leaning toward the 212...though I asked Jeff Genzler about a 1288 today

It's nearly impossible to get a bad electric bass sound out of this rig...the 212/410 is the PERFECT combo for a big, full sound. As someone suggested, I tried flipping the stack with the 212's on top and the 410's on the bottom...still prefer 12's on the bottom, and 10's on the top...

For upright...my only 'wish list' kinda thing would be a parametric or two just for the lows...I like stupid amounts of low end for my band and it's really hard to get it while playing way too loud with an upright bass. Everything from 120hz up is dreamy on that rig and really easy to get to...the lows are fantastic, but I wish I could get a tad more 'specific' with them...for example, I add 63(ish)hz, but like to cut around 90hz...boost 100hz, but cut 125hz...so I may need a small parametric in my chain...we'll see.

Thanks so much to everyone who provided advise and support...I am convert for sure!

Mark
