Hi Guys - Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered before. I've been playing the same rig for 15 years - a Carvin ProBass 500 with a 4x10 cab, and am thinking it's time to upgrade. The Carvin has served me well, but I've realized that I've owned three television sets in the time I've owned that rig...at some point it will likely start breaking down.
Thanks to Norm Stockton's video tours of GK, I've about decided on that brand. I'm thinking the Gallien Kruger 700 RBII head will fit the bill. I'd figured on getting the 4x10 GK neo to go along with it, but am also intrigued by the 2x12 configuration. Back in the day, it seems like we all played amps with a single 15 inch speaker with no horn - very boomy. Seems like the 2x12 is a good bridge between the two.
I'm wondering if others had done comparisons, especially with GK's line, and what the impressions were.
I don't want a rig that is too rumbly but is modern sounding, warm and clear, and certainly want to make sure the volume capacity is there - I tend to think I need the 4x10 to move more air against my guitar player. We play covers from the 70s to current (Wild Cherry to Aerosmith to the Peppers). My main axe is a Fender Jazz (geddy).
Thanks in advance!

First time I played with them (previously had been using 410 Carvin cab) tried around the same volume level I'd used with my previous cab and sound guy bumped me down because it cut through the mix so well. A 4 ohm 212 cab or two 8 ohm 112s will definitely cut through the mix unless you're playing in a stadium and they're still punchy enough that they don't sound muddy at all IMO.

The 410 is a bit bigger sounding, and the 212 is a bit more full and even through the mids. If I were to use just one cab, I tend to favor the 212, but I could see where other folks might prefer the 410.
Interestingly, while I normally prefer to stack two identical cabs (as opposed to the mix and match), when I tried two Neo410's, versus two Neo212-II's, versus the mixed 410/212 stack, I preferred the mixed stack.
As always, YMMV.

My 700RB-II gets along very nicely with my GB Uber 212 (nice and articulate but it will grunt if I push it) and I have heard nothing but good things about the GK Neo 2x12s.
Edit:
^See, nothing but good things.
