Just thought id chime in with thoughts on my new GK Rig. I went from an Epifani UL410 and UL502 to 2 GK Neo 212's and the Fusion 550 Head. Only thing i can say is wow! The cabs and head blew me away. I play a Lakland 55-02 and my tone was exactly how i picture it in my head. Snappy but not overly bright, super deep but still clear. I see what everyone is talking about with the "3D" Gk tone. When i really dug in, it went there with me. When i needed to slap, it was there. Everything was just there. I didnt have to tweak anything. I think the Lakland/GK Pairing is somethin epic! lol. I got to use the rig for the first time doing a co-headligning gig w O.A.R. Was a great time, and a great time to bust out the new GK Rig. I feel like i finally can not worry about gear for a while. Thanks GK. SOrry it took so long for me to give you a chance lol. Here are pics since i know you guys are all about em. |

Awesome pics. Love the second one.
I've seen O.A.R. and know that that's a great time.
Looks like you had a heck of a good night.
Congrats!!!

I play an Epifani UL502 w/2 UL112s. I've been thinking about adding a GK Fusion 550 and 412 or 2 212s to my stable (to augment the Epifani rig).
How would you describe the differences? AWESOME looking rig, by the way! |

I could never get like a really deep, fat tone out of the Epifani rig. It was super clean, which i loved when playing by myself, but in my band setting, were pretty much rock, it just didnt cut it in the mix. The GK rig is just right there, has all teh fatness that i need, and grinds when i need to also. I would def say the GK rig is more suited for rock, any kind of rock, but also the Rnb/Funk stuff. Its pretty versatile. |

I recently joined an alternative "side project" with a pretty heavy rock/punk sound. The 502 seems to cut through the mix really well in this band, but it's not exactly a "raw" sound. A bit too clean and refined, though I can get pretty dirty and "brown" (as a good friend calls it) with my Pbass. But I'm usually not using the Pbass - usually a Jazz 5 or G&L L2500.
Definitely not looking to replace the 502 as my main gig needs that big clean thing. But the Fusion is looking really nice, and the MB Fusion would be even better if it ever comes out.
Thanks. |
