Glockenklang'n

Too cool. Judging by the form factor it looks like this might be Udo's take on Class D.

It's not on the website yet, english or german, so it may be a prototype.

Subscribed. If it's rackmountable, it might finally be my microhead answer.

it's Glockenklang afteral, so I have the distinct feeling that there there'll be rack ears available.
I for one am looking forward to this amp as it really seems to be the one I have been waiting for.
I had been flirting with the epifani 501(?) already...

That's what I thought about the Aguilar TH500...

and...they don't?

Mind you, at this size I might just be using a bag anyways.
5 kg is not too heavy for that I recon.

Nope, they don't. I guess they figured not enough people would rack it, and I think they were rushing to release. I was all set to pre-order

I love using a rack tuner -- much better than a pedal for me because of the extra cables -- and the protection of a rack bag is nice. Current amp (19 lbs.) is already a one hand carry in the rack bag, but with a bit of discomfort. If I can lop a bit of that off, I think it'll be perfect.

Blue Soul

I emailed Udo and here is the scoop:
  • 650 watts@4 ohms
  • 5 kg (11 lbs)
  • rack ears available
  • 320 x 280 x 88 mm (12.6 X 11 X 3.5 ")

will be available at 2nd week of December.

At 11 lbs it's not super-light, but then again it'll no doubt have that bullet proof Glockenklang build quality (which is definitely lacking in some of the flimsier light weight rigs out there). This will be very interesting.

Udo doesn't mess around. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him a few years back and got to see first hand how he approaches his design process. He's the real deal. This should be a really interesting amp.

Looks like a nice box. If anyone in the US is interested in one of these, my guess is Glenn Kawamoto of Austin Bass Traders will have the full scoop on pricing and 'actual' availability in the states.

This head seems to be what the 'Soul' should have been. More power, a bit lighter and smaller.

Looks nice. I would guess this is a class D amp with a more traditional power supply, but just guessing there (based on the size and weight).

Very cool. I just emailed Glenn, will let you know if he gets back to me.

Here's what I got from Glenn:

Quote:
Hi Mike,

Yes, Glockenklang is planning to make available in US in Jan./ Feb.

Prices not yet released.

Please check back in a couple of weeks.

Best,
Glenn
So, not much info, but US availability won't be until 2012.

That is what I figured, and my guess is, it will probably be later than that. Looks interesting though, and I'd enjoy hearing this one.

I'll be there also this year. Not a very good place to check out tone, etc., but it would be nice to check out the feel, weight, size, and specs anyway. Of course, as we know, just because something is in the booth doesn't mean the final product will be the same, or even that it will actually be released.

I hope this one is coming down the pike though. I think there would be a reasonably good market for these based on guys looking for a 'Heartrock' type head that is much smaller and lighter. I'd probably buy one!
