new graduation amp

well, since I've graduated college and have a decent bit of money to burn, i figured it was time to invest in a serious amplifier. I've been playing a fender rumble 100 1x15 for the last 4-5 years in band practice and light gigging, but as the gigging has gotten more regular I've begun to feel the need for more power.

Now this isn't a which amp thread. I've done some research, played around at the local shops. I don't, however, know nearly enough to be confidant in a purchase.

My overall budget rests at about 750ish.

I would like to pick up a used orange bass terror (dream amp). The problem is that this would leave me with only about 200-250 for a cabinet.

would a GK goldline or Harke VX 4x10 be anywhere sufficient to do this amp justice? Or would i be better off picking up a Harke LH500 and spend a bit more on cabinets?

If you already have your dream amp in sights......do it now. Try both cabs with it to decide. You can always pickup decent cabs used, amp can be harder to come by!

I have (3) Fender Bass Amps:
Rumble 60, TB1200 (hybrid) and the monster bassman 300(tubes) which would make the best graduation gift for your future.......Match it up with a Fender Pro Cab like the 215Pro or the 810Pro real $$$(and over your budget) but worth it......

Having your "dream amp" is a big deal, but skimping on your speakers is a let down. A great amp through crappy speakers will always sound crappy. Just sayin'. But if it means not getting your amp, buy a used cab of better quality, and start saving. Oh, and congrats on grad-gee-atin'.

I think it's a lot easier to find a great used cab on CL than it is to find a great used amp.

Wow you are in the EXACT situation as myself. I have money to work with but I'm stuck with choosing the orange and getting cheap speakers or going in another direction and getting a different amp (not a downgrade by any means, markbass LM III) and getting SWEET speakers for my ampeg 410.

I considered the usefulness of the orange. You should probably reconsider if you are looking for a clean tone. What I've heard/read is that the orange is really good for a colored tone, but you can never get that untouched clean sound. Considering my monetary situation, I'm going for the markbass which is nearly $300 less, and I'll be getting nice speakers to make my rig sound even better. I can always get a good overdriven tone with a preamp or pedal.
