New Member with Ampeg B2R problem

Hello everyone. New to this forum, have read your post for a while and found them to be a wealth of information. I have currently run ito a problem and am hoping you may be of help.
I just purchased a used Ampeg B2r. Unit seems to function fine but has a considerable amount of background noise when you bring the master up. The gain being up or down does not effect the noise level nor does the graphic eq being in or out.
With an SG bass and the gain control set to just flash once in a while I can bring the master up to limiting with a reasonable amount of background noise. But it is always there and I'm concerned that a bass with less output, such as my Rickenbacker, the noise may be a problem. Is this typical for this model amplifier or does mine have problem. Currently running the amp on an SVT 15e bottom.

Thanks
Joe

Any time you boost volume, you also boost the noise floor. It's possible there's something wrong with it...but I just used a rented B2R on a gig and I didn't notice anything like that, but then again, I play at very low volumes onstage usually. However, knowing what I know about the B2R, I wouldn't be surprised if that's just the way it works.
