new mesa all tube amp ?????

I was on my facebook and mesa posted a picture of some artist's new cabinet grill and i seen this post:
"in the brand new Mesa Price list is the "Bass Strategy". 12 x 6L6 power tubes and 3 x 12AX7 Preamps. Producing a modest 300 watts! I think Mesa answered your wish. Tons of features listed. Avaialble later in 2012." so i did some digging and came up with this
Mesa/Boogie Bass Strategy Multi-Watt Bass Amplifier Tube Head and more Bass Tube Amplifier Heads At Cascio Interstate Music

If this is true i need to get one

I like the switchable wattage option. If it isn't insanely expensive I may consider it down the line when I get some other stuff out of the way. I hope they don't make it rack based.

Fixed bias hugh... It's a little bit of a pain to find 12 matched 6l6's.

So no different than the old 400+.

I may get in line for this new one, but my dream was a 400 watter using 6550's. C'mon Mesa!

Would love to see a new all tube head from Mesa, bit not with 12 6L6s - that makes no sense now that there are decent 6550 and KT88s being made - it just doubles the probability of having a tube failure. The Mesa Hollywood guy was hush hush a few years ago but alluded to "something with KT88s" when I pressed him, so hopefully that will still come to fruition.

They actually have 2 new all tube bass heads a-comin'. I heard the Strategy was to be higher than 300 watts, but the one that peeks my interest is the new 100 watter, with a similar name.

Yeah, heard about this a little while back. They are a 6L6 based company so big bottles are probably not going to happen. I also heard there may be a smaller all tube amp at some point...

I'm with you. I want 400-500 watts RMS out of some bigger bottles. I don't care if it weighs more than I do.

I was shooting at the V4BH because I wasn't happy with their headroom.

I don't expect any more out of those 6L6. The kid in me wants to see a ridiculous 8 kt88 amp or equivalent for my stupid loud projects I get into.

The amp I'm currently using, Mesa attributes about 65 watts per matched pair... and I think that's a tad conservative. They also called the 400+ 500 watts with 12 6l6s in it.

Either way, that's a loud black box.

Kind of disappointed. Hopefully it's not a rack amp. Why don't they use 6550s?

Well the Traynor YBA300 has 12 6L6's & is 300w a has a user bias feature. That's getting glowing reviews.

A 6L6 is generally considered to give out 25 watts although some class it as a 30 watt Valve / tube. Me, I recon it's the same as an EL34 which is 25 watts but not as nice sounding.

Whats wrong with a rackmount when they have vintage style tolex cases to rack them in?

300w sounds very decent and honest of Mesa, give their past flights of fancy about the 400+.

Really you're looking at between 20-25w per tube, at best. Conventional wisdom about the 400+ puts it around ~280w

I feel like being able to switch between 100/200/300 would be way more useful than 60/150/300.
