Those previous watt numbers were with 6l6 tubes. Kt88 are bigger tubes in terms of size and watts.

Hi there James,

The new Bass Prodigy and Bass Strategy we're developing will have a KT-88 based power section with a 12AX7 pre and should be spot on for what you're requesting.
WOW!

All prayers have been answered!

There was a Strategy 400 as well I think.
Nope. The old Strategy amps from the 80's and 90's were only 2-channel power blocks. Power was roughly ~200w per side, not combined.

To me it's all about weight versus power as opposed to power. The 400+ has got plenty of power- I've almost never heard anybody complain that they didn't have enough power with a 400+ it's just a little beefy at 55 pounds!

If they get rid of that EQ I'm no longer interested in the head. Can't make everybody happy can you?

I thought one was 120 watts switchable to lower power and the other was 300 watts with lower power switch. Although 500 watts sounds rad, i cant imagine 300 watt tube head not being enough power, although having more power is better than not having enough. Although looks wouldnt affect my descision to buy one, i think they are terribly ugly to look at, but its not there for looks, is it ? Now, im interested in the price. Being mesa, im sure even the 120 watt will be over $1500. Im pretty sure im going to buy the traynor yba300, ive seen brand new ones go for $1100-1200. But a couple years when the new mesa big boy goes for under $1000 used, ill snatch one.

I like the variable power switching idea alot. If I could have a 400 watt tube head that went 400, 200, 100, 50, 25 and silent record post power supply, that would be heaven. 2 channel voicings like channel 1: 400+, channel 2: 400 or buster (something less bright than 400+). Oh, and a DI not as hot or noisey as the 400+. Weight i can deal with especially if its less than a STD, oops, i mean SVT. That would be my dream amp

I gig mostly with a Buster 200 and never have felt a lack power. I am definitely interested in one of these new tube amps... just not sure which one.
