I would love to try these amps out and if they sound good buy one, however I know they will probably come with that famous big Mesa price tag...but I am sure it would be worth it as always. Love Mesa gear.

Mesa often creates new gear but doesnt always top their old stuff.

All Mesa Boogie gear is really good gear.

When Randall Smith dies. Mesa will be looked at very differently.

Keep all your Mesa Boogie amps.

Smile i need 300 tube watts! I dont need 300 tube watts!

The strategy should bring together the great divide between people who absolutely need a boat load of tube watts and those that get everything they want for less. I like that flexibility. If for some reason you dont have pa suppor or you just feel like being an obnoxiously loud bassplayer, you have that option. Being able to record and gig with the same tube head is a good thing. Although it is expensive, its around the same price as a new ampeg heritage svt, except the mesa is made in the US, which carries alot of weight with me. I dont know why they couldnt come up with a new name instead of reusing strategy, but whatever. I used to own a buster head and i loved it, ive played 400+ and i loved it. Time will tell how these heads turn out.

to be fair, I've never heard of any Mesa Tube heads having major issues. It seems to only be the hybrids and SS heads that overheat and cut out or misbehave in other ways.

Yeah, my D-180 hasn't had any problems so far (watch as tomorrow it refuses to turn on). I definitely haven't really heard about that many problems with 400 and 400+ or Buster models, either.

Does anyone know when the mesa boogie prodigy bass will be available for purchase? It has been a long time since these amps were first announced and are still not available. What might be holding up production?

I too am waiting for these new amps to be released. I am no longer holding my breath on a date because I'd be dead, or a least seriously blue by now if I was

My understanding is that the Mesa team has been busy furiously tweaking the design of both of these amps for most of this year. They did a private demo for some top studio players in Nashville a few weeks ago, and (I think) took some pre-orders.

Outside of that info, I do not have an eta for the general public to be able to try/buy one yet. At this juncture, I'd almost guess that we will not see them in the wild until 2013 NAMM (but that's just my opinion).

I totally forgot these were being made... preamp of the Carbine with a tube power section (basically). I'll take the smaller one, probs.
I personally think the "lunchbox" design is cool as hell. I almost bought a Mini Recto just to have it sit around and look cute in the rehearsal room lol.
However, I wonder how the DI's will sound, since that's the reason I moved my 400+ as that just did not produce a pleasurable experience.

yeah the "DI" out on the 400/400+ is almost useless.

No ETA yet

I keep in touch with the guys at Hollywood Mesa & have my name on the top of the list to buy one when it comes out.
They told me yesterday that they're hoping for Dec/Jan but they haven't heard anything solid yet.

I'm anxious to have the 100 watter paired with a Powerhouse 1x15. Will be checking in often for any updates.

It's too bad there isn't anyone from Mesa active here on TB like there is from Genz Benz.

That might be when they come out.

For reals, though. I remember back when I was looking hard at this and the Baer for my new amp thinking they'd be out soon.....I decided to go with the Glock 6 months ago....
