New (Old) Cab Day: Acoustic 301

Sign in to disble this ad
Picked this up locally the other day. I have to say, at first I was hesitant because I hear a lot of bashing about these cabs, but as soon as I lit it up, all anxiety was melted away by just about the sweetest sound I have ever heard. My current setup is:

301 paired with a Marshall Jubilee 3530 (bass rig)

Straightback SVT810 with my GK MB Fusion (treb/mid rig)

I'm in heaven.

I was thinkin' about jumping on that cab myself, I just didn't want to drive 4-1/2 hours to Chicago to get it.
Congrats on having two great bass cabinets...

haha, it's definitely a bear to move too, but the tone makes it worthwhile

Put a 2x10 cab on top of the 301 and put your head on top of that and you have the ultimate rig. 7 feet tall of kick ass bass rig.

Does anyone know if it makes a difference if you play with the 301 cab on its side as opposed to upright? Will that affect how the sound is thrown around much?

Yes, the coupling effect with the floor that they were designed for is lost to some degree.
