Question Need New Practice Amp Advice!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys. I'm in need of a new practice amp and I have a few in mind but I'm not familiar with all of the brands. I would love some input on these particular amps as well as how the brands compare to each other. I know there are price differences but that doesn't matter to me. I'm only worried about sound quality and build quality.

Marshall MB30
Orange Crush Pix CR50BXT
Acoustic B50
Ampeg BA112
Line 6 Low Down Studio 110
Warwick Take 12
SWR LA12
GK MB112
Ashdown Perfect 10
Eden E8 or E10

Sorry for so many but I just can't decide.

I just bought the Orange Crush Pix CR50BXT, but so far I've only played through it once, so can't really say much about the sound yet (sounded alright with an EBMM Stingray and a Squier Fretless Jazz). When it comes to build quality everything seems to be put together nicely, no obvious flaws in the construction. I'll post more in a few days

I love my Line 6 Studio 110 for build, versatility and sound quality (just recorded through it, with good results). No firsthand experience with the others, though.

the ba112 or ba115 hiss bad I would not recomend them. Acoustic is very nice. check out the peavey practice amps they sound great and are cheap.

+1 on the Acoustic B20 or Peavey Max series. I agree on piezo tweeter hiss but the BA-112 does not have a tweeter (BA-115 does) and is very nice.

I'm going to be buying a Marshall MB30 in time to get it around Christmas, mostly because I've been using only a crappy 10watt practice amp for the past year, and because I've heard the distortion you can get with the vintage setting is amazing.

Thank you for the replies so far. I would like to stay away from Peavey if at all possible. I have used them before and I have never been fully satisfied with the sound of them. They are not bad amps...just not for me. Also, I will be buying new. The last couple of times I bought used I had a few issues. I have heard great things about GK, Ampeg, and SWR but I haven't heard much about the other brands. I know Marshall and Orange are raved about for their electric amps but there's not much info on the bass amps. Acoustic, Line 6, and Warwick I know absolutely nothing about.

More love for the Acoustic B20...inexpensive (not cheap) and amazing tone options.
