The new PV Max 115 II ... not bad at all. Couple of questions ...

I'm a lead player but used to play bass in a couple of blues and rock bands. I just got into it again for a part-time/fill in gig and was looking for a small combo. I've been playing guitar AND bass thru my PV Classic 50 head and 2x12 tweed cab with Blue Marvels (not bad once worn in, but prefer greenies) and I love the tone I get from the bass thru it. Figured if I blew the speakers no biggie since I'm changing them out. I got to try the new Max 115 II the other night with an Ibanez SR370M, a Yamaha, and a USA Precision. I was pretty impressed with it. Loud enough for small clubs unmic'd unless you have a heavy handed drummer and volume junky lead player. I was able to dial in a smooth, punchy but deep tone that worked with all three basses with minimal tweeking. I'm thinking of picking one up. If they all sound as good as the one I played and have that legendary PV reliability I'm sold.

Anyone using the Max 115 II?

Any issues with it, reliability wise?

How is the DI? Is it pre EQ?

How loud have you pushed in a band unmic'd before it got lost?

Is it pushing thru the mix for you without being boomy?

If you've played loud enough to be forced to mic it or run the DI to the FOH, did it continue to suffice for stage monitoring your bass?

I've used an old Max 112 for pracitice and mic'd for gigs previously, and it's not bad for what it is. But the Max 115 II sounded closer to what I can dial up with the old Firebass and Nitro heads: smooth, punchy, good low end, clear.

Nobody using one? Bummer.

I read here that a simple mod will allow one to use the 1/8 out to a 1/4 input on a second amp. Without an effects loop that's the only way to add a second Mxx II for larger outdoor stages, I reckon. Was wondering how well it worked.
