New Rumble 112 Cab against MB NY121 Cab

The Rumble 112 Cab specs says 500 Watts - 8 ohms, no frequency response and sensitivity specs. The weight and price looks good! is this comparable to the MB NY 121 Cab? Your inputs please.

I did'nt look, but that 500 watt rating probably means adding an extension cab.

It's not a combo. It's a standalone cab. 500w program, 250w continuous. I would say the Markbass will handle more real watts but the Fender is lighter (24lbs vs. 29lbs). The Fender is cheaper ($399). The Markbass is $450 . I've seen it for $499 as well. I just can't see spending that much on a tiny cabinet. Damn nice looking and small cabinet though. Consider the GK Neo112-II for $349.

Fender shows 250 continuous and 500 program, Markbass shows 400 AES so it's apples and cattle comparisons. But, power ratings are pretty pointless specs anyway that don't mean squat in the real world. Without any specs of any sort on the Fender, my own position would be to wait until they show up in stores and try them side by side.

If you put the Markbass next to the Rumble and left the room, when you came back you would find that the Markbass actually ATE the Rumble. Just sayin.

I agree. even though power ratings are sorta meaningless but as you go up the food chain, they mean just a little bit more.

no they don't. i used to own the markbass combo the ny121 is based on, and if it took 250w without sounding like it would explode, i'd be surprised. i've seen a ton of high end makers quote impossibly high power handling specs as well. most of them do that, actually.

Maybe, maybe not. The Rumble stuff just barely debuted at NAMM, so I don't think anyone has real world experience with it yet. It could end up being great.

DW Bass,

The GK neo 112-II might be a good one, , I searched for the frequency response at GC & MF's website but can't find it, does this have a good bottom end? does anyone know the frequency response for this one? (HZ-KHZ)
