Question New TC BG500 vs Rebelhead Combo

Sign in to disble this ad
The new TC BG500 looks, on paper, to be very similar to the Rebelhead combo. It looks like it'll sell for half the money. TC aren't stupid so wouldn't be putting out anything that would jeapordise sales of the more expensive heads and combos but does anyone know what the actual differences between the two are? So far, other than looking quite ugly , I can only see that the BG loses the chromatic tuner in place of a simpler one. There's got to be a lot more to it than that!

I'm sure there are many internals that are different. Possibly different manufacturing locations that could make building the BG500 more cost effective. The drivers are from Eminence, but which drivers...where are they made? To me, the cabinet for the combo looks different from the RS series, but I did only see the BG500 in a video in low light. Is it carpet covered vs. spray on tough covering?

Many variables determine price. We'll see what street looks like when they actually come out.

Not as extensive EQ.....the presets dont seem as easy to mess about with....the combo weighs a fair bit....not as many options for outputs on the combo.

Does the combo come in 4 ohm format?

They seem to be the main differences.

I didn't hear anything about am effects loop. Not that big a deal. If they sound like the other products, I'm in.
