New Tube Amp Day!

I've been primarily a solid state amp guy, but have dabbled with tube amps. I had a Peavey VB-2 with a Peavey 215 cab for a bit, but went through some tough financial times and had to sell it off. I came across a too-good-to-pass-up deal on an Ashdown Little Bastard 30 ($400 NIB) yesterday and had to buy it. The store had it plugged in to a Yamaha SV110 PA cab and it sounded OK. Brought it home even though I didn't have a bass cab. I fooled around with it through one of my Yamaha SV112 cabs and got it pretty loud. Not knowing any better, I was plugged into the "High" input. I sold one of my GK MB115s and picked up an old 4 ohm Peavey 410TVX. Wow! Nice loud and full with decent bass. My Blacktop Jazz sounded great. Got a nice hairy sound with everything cranked. Then I plugged in to the "Low" input. Lord have mercy! This is the tube tone you want! Very warm and full, able to go from clean to just the edge of break up (my preferred sound) to all out distortion. Did I mention it was loud? I dialed in a decent Allen Woody tone and rocked some Mule riffs. Very happy with this set up. Definitely giggable.

Righteous, I'm all about tiny tube amps.

Does it break up fairly easy using el84's?

It does break up nicely using the low input and the volume just past noon. The mid control really controls the amount of break up. The amp is very responsive to dynamics and really opens up when I play with a pick. I have the tweeter off, by the way.
