Yep. It's like the Duke Nukem Forever of bass amps. Always promising the best, banking on nostalgia, and if/when they actually release we'll realize just how dated the concept actually is now.

I suspect that this is just some perverse practical joke or possibly some sort of marketing exercise, and that there are probably posters that are “in” on the ruse, but sadly many well meaning TBer's have been sucked into becoming unwitting shills as well.

I suppose time will tell.
I "regrettably" posted that comment from the Acoustic Control website when it first appeared some time back. My bad. Let me explain:

I was one of the first few "endorsers" of the new "acoustic" some 3 years ago when George contacted me and explained his "vision". Sounded like a plan to me...

Problem was/is is that if I am going to play ANYONE'S equipment - I have to have the equipment to take on the road (at that time I was touring quite a bit). Obviously, as much of a fan as I am of Acoustic amps and cabs, I simply could not wait for the units to be ready for delivery. I contacted George and was taken off the list.

I then went with the new Ampeg Heritage gear and was one happy camper! That pretty much sums up my involvement with "acoustic" USA.

Would I personally like to see this be a huge success?? You bet!! I ALWAYS cheer for ANYONE who is willing to step out on a limb and go for it. Problem is, I believe that in this case - the limb is getting pretty weak....

This has been going on for quite some time with HUGE investments in capital with little or no return. My limited business acqumin wonders how anyone could continue like this without a measure of success? Frankly, I don't have a clue. This is MY opinion and ONLY my opinion.

I have never once played, or even actually seen firsthand one of the amps, but I am told by people that I trust that they are real and do, indeed exist.

I have however, seen the photos that float around out there of amps that were being tested:

Does this mean they actually exist and are ready for shipment? Again - I don't have a clue. The last rumor that I heard was that George was looking for a box company to provide shipping crates.

Will this ever be a reality? Again - you got me! I would, however, offer this advice to anyone who might be interested in purchasing one - proceed carefully. It might be a good idea to wait until they actually begin shipping, before actually going forward with an order.....just my opinion.

Why would such a thing remain fantasy?

I believe selling electronics in Europe, you have to submit them to there testing standards, mainly RoHS , some amps companies chose not to sell in the European union

They sure do know how to run a business. I called and emailed countless times and wrote directly to them on facebook a couple more. Genuinely interested in their products, specifically a matching cab for my 370. Didn't get any response or had the phone picked up. Good luck selling them. You won't be getting my business. If I want an acoustic cab I'll find an old beat up one, recondition it and throw jbl drivers in it like many people have.

Depends on your definition of readily available. Are they for sale from the company? Yes. Are they widely out for sale in retail outlets? No.

Right, except that AFAIK RoHS is based on self-certification, i.e. the manufacturer itself is responsible to check all parts and manufacturing methods for compliance. In practice this means getting certificates/documentation from component manufacturers for each end every component, as well as similar guarantees e.g. from subcontractors who perform the soldering or assembly.

I played through one of these recently. There is a guy here on talkbass who has one of these and lives near me. The amp is impressive.

I believe so, yes. They had several units on display at Summer NAMM, and I believe they are filling orders.

They are filling orders at $ 1,999.99 for the head and $ 2,999.99 - that's 5.000 bucks for the rig.... not too shabby.....
