Just thought i'd share a couple of pics of a vintage class A tube amp that i finally serviced for myself. i've owned it for more than 20 years and its 100% all original except that i just re-tweeded it last weekend. i'm really lovin' all 5 watts of its unlimited power!

Nice job on the tweed. Would probably make a great practice amp, even better with a speaker output to use a bass cab.

I would love an ol' tweed Champ.

I have a nice original 65 Vibrochamp that I bought a few years back for 200 bucks that had RCA blackplate and Mullard tubes.

Cool, your amp is a year older than I am. Your re-tweeding looks perfect. I had a lot of fun last year building a Weber Champ clone, but I ordered the cab covered with cream tolex to match a Blues Junior I have. Tweed is just SO classy. Champs rock!

Any chance you have pictures of it before you re-tweeded it?

I bought mine just a bit ago when really expensive class A amps were becoming the rage for recording and mic'ing live...and dudes were selling Champ clones for thousands. I figured I could get pretty much the same thing for a couple hundred bucks. And did. They're worth a bit more now than they did then.

That tweed job is outstanding!

One of my favorite guitarists to play with loves to show up with a Champ. I get giddy every time I see him toting it, it sits magically in a mix above a vintage bass tone.

it genuine fender reissue tweed that i then lacquered with an amber tint to give it the vintage look. i think they look all funky, dry and pale if you don't lacquer them, so i always do them that way.

here's a 54 pro of mine that i re-did two weeks ago with the brown 'linen' grill cloth (before i re-tweeded this one, someone had re-tolexed it in black and did a funky job on it):

it actually sounds pretty good for bass for an 'open-back' amp, since it has an original NOS Jensen P15N in it.
