Newbie to the forum - cabinet question

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings all,

New to the forum. Looking for some advice.

Will soon get a SVT 4 PRO (in a few days/on order already) for my 4 ohm Epifani PS 410 and looking to add on another cab. Looking at the Orange OBC410 which I know is 8 ohms. Would the combo put unnecessary strain on the head due to the difference in impedance?

Music type is hard rock and lots of RUSH tunes. I'm currently being drowned out by our two guitarists.

Thank you in advance.

Isn't that a 4ohm minimum? If so, you could not run that setup. Well, not for very long anyway.

If it is 2 ohm, you should be fine, although impedance mismatching causes more power to go to one cab...you know, someone much smarter than me can explain it better.

Look what I found!

You can run it in stereo, not bridged. And that's as far as I can help.

I'm totally useless except at googling stuff.

So regardless of the additional cab I end up getting, it needs to have an impedance of 4 ohms to work in tandem with the PS410 using the 4 PRO?

Thanks.

The amp is stereo so, it'll work. It's not what I would consider ideal especially given that you are getting stepped on by your buddies but, It'll work.

Your 4 ohm cab will see 625 watts the 8 ohm box will see 350 watts. (according to the manual)

If it was me, I'd want 2 - 8 ohm boxes and run bridged @ 4 ohms for 800 watts per box

I see. Maybe I should sell the Epifani and pick up the Orange 410 instead and build on that.

Actually I would get a matching Epifani cab. The difference in output between 625 watts and 800 watts is negligible. Adding a second matching cab will give you a very noticeable increase in output.
