What is the difference between a mixing amp and a head?
Can you use the mixing amp as a head?
I found one in the back of a thrift store for $7.

If you are talking about a self-powered mixer, yes they can be used for bass. Bass heads have the tone sections tailored more directly for bass guitar only.

I'm sure i'm going to buy it. They even put it away for me. It powers on but they didn't even have a mic in the store. I did notice it had inputs for just about everything. They also two 15" emimnece or what ever speakers still in the box packed in foam. They want $40 for those. So i just told them see them after christmas. They wanted to close.

A powered mixer is a good thing to have, especially if it works and it nearly free! Typically the preamps aren't anything to write home about, just adequate, and the EQ is basic but usable. But it's a good piece of gear to have around for various uses and yeah, it can certainly amplify a bass guitar.

The Eminence drivers might be a good find, depending on what model and if they're new or at least in working condition. Check the model numbers, do a search for prices and check the Eminence website for specs. Good luck, Bob
