Newbie seeking Advice

Hi all -

This is my first post and I'm looking for some amp advice.

I am just now taking up the bass (I've been playing guitar for 12 years and drums for 20) and I have a bass on order - a Fender 70's classic Jazz Bass.

I am in need of a bass amp and I'd like something I could potentially play out with in small clubs / bars.

I am leaning towards a used amp at my local shop - a Genz Benz M-Line 210 @ 200 watts. Does anybody have any experience with this amp? I can get it for a really good price and it's in perfect condition.

In terms of music styles - I lean towards alt-country, power-pop, and college rock like REM, Wilco, Smithereens, Big Star, Neko Case etc....

Anyway - I like this amp - I guess I'm just looking for a thumbs up or some alternative suggestions.

if you aren't planning on playing really super loud, the m-line is a great amp. i have a friend who has one and i've plugged into it and i liked it quite well.

+1 I love my Genz cab and they have a great rep for customer service.

I have that amp and I'm very happy with it. I found it for $250 locally, talked the guy down to $235. Definitely worth it, IMO. Very good clarity (so it sounds pretty loud, IMO). Good tonal control too. If you've looked at it in the shop, you probably already noticed is has an XLR out for the mixing board and you can add an extension cab (but that knocks it down to 100w each).
