News Tubes NO Sound

Hi all, I just joined the forum. I put in new tubes in my SVT3PRO as per Ampeg's recommendation and the fan immediately kicked on and the clip indicator was a constant red. I waited the 30 seconds or so for the tubes to warm up, but no sound.

I used the correct tubes in the right slots. Any ideas? Anyone else experienced this? I'm kinda flipping out because under normal circumstances a running fan and constant clip light are bad things, but I just turned the thing on.

Thanks!

Mark

New tubes can still be bad right out the box. Put the old ones back and see if it sorts it.

Is everything hooked up correctly? is there some kind of protection feature where the cover has to be on?

Something else has gone wrong then, bust a joint when wiggling tubes out. Are the valve sockets board mount? Fairly easy issue to cause if they are, you pull one of the base pins out of the solder joint and it all goes wrong.

Welcome to TB (!) and good luck with your amp issues.

Isn't a Trepanist someone who drills holes in their noggin? Great user name if so.

Yeah, i'm thinking it's something else besides the tubes now. fragile thing. Sounds like no easy fix, and kudos for Immigrant form knowing what my handles means! It's usually available whenever I register at a forum

Sometimes the voices in my head need an escape route. I had the drill bit against my forehead when one of the voices said "Hey! Try TB instead!"
