Uh....... They weren't using a synth. They were playing to tracks. The original bass part was there the whole time. Oy. Been touring for the better part of 3 decades and aren't allowed to play live on TV.

Ya, tracks on a show like American Idol is crap. Also, not having Hugh McDonald on and replacing him with a track is uber-lame. Glad I didn't see it. Can't say I was ever much of a fan of the band anyway
